Notre Dame Berlin Programs
A major focus of my work at Notre Dame is the development and executive administration of three summer study abroad programs that offer global experiences tailored to Notre Dame students from a variety of disciplines. At the core of the "ND Summer Berlin," the "International Economics Abroad," and the "German Engineering" programs is a strong commitment to academic rigor paired with real cultural immersion through community-based service-learning, tutoring, and volunteering opportunities. Academic excursions and on-site classes enrich the learning experience and introduce students to the multifaceted city of Berlin. By interacting with local experts in their fields, students do not just learn about Germany, but with and from German experts. Courses are taught in English and German, in order to make the program accessible to a broad variety of students, with different academic and personal interests.
As the executive resident director of all three Berlin-based programs, I am responsible for all on-ground logistics, as well as the coordination of a 15-person team of faculty and staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: housing arrangements, excursion planning and chaperoning, budget oversight, correspondence with German partner institutions, room and time scheduling for courses, oversight of student advising, emergency management, and program assessment.
